Making plans...

Day 73

This morning we had made an appointment for a kitchen specialist to visit from a local company called Highfields Property Services. I had been following them on Facebook and their work looked very good, plus they had some great reviews.

He arrived at 10am, and luckily Keith was back from doing our weekly shop. He spent two hours with us, having a look at the plans we'd had drawn up already and taking some very thorough measurements. Of course, his presence in the house sent Monty into a panic again, and when he had to go upstairs to peer into our loft, the cat, who was on Sophie's bed, went diving to hide behind her headboard! We are going to have to do something when the kitchen does get renovated, otherwise, we're going to end up with a very stressed out cat!

Highfields use Benchmarx Kitchens, which funnily enough are part of Travis Perkins, and are based in premises that I used to work in when I was a teenager! Anthony left a brochure for us and said that by the end of next week he'd have a design drawn up, and we could meet him down at the showroom to look at the kitchens.

Both Keith and I have a good feeling about the company so let's hope we can get something sorted! He was saying June for the work to start which is great as it'll be summer and the temperatures and weather should be a lot better!

The rest of the day was spent pottering about and doing various jobs. Outside the weather continued to be grey and chilly, so not really ideal to venture out into the garden. Keith was glued to the television watching Cheltenham, so I went to get Mike on my own again. I have started going early as between 3.15pm and 3.30pm, one of the large schools nearby comes out and the traffic is horrendous. He was out early today, so we had to battle our way through it to get home. Thank goodness, tomorrow is Friday!
