Hot and humid

Day 95

Sophie was back at work today and she looked lovely when she went in - it's her favourite day of the working week as she can dress up and put make-up on!

I was hoping today would be cooler, but the threatened thunderstorms never materialised and it stayed hot and humid all day. Keith and I didn't venture out apart from taking a parcel to the post office for Sophie, calling over to Mum's to make sure everything was OK and collecting Mike from work. Next Saturday, the 4th July, pubs, bars and restaurants can open but I think we'll leave it for a while before going out. It will be interesting to see how busy everywhere is - I can't help remembering the queues for shops when they re-opened!

So, today was spent mooching about and doing very little Having said that, we have achieved quite a lot since we all went into lockdown in March. For posterity, here is what we have done so far:

Cut back the bushes at the front of the house
Painted the en-suite bathroom and re-sealed the shower unit. We also re-sealed the window in there and did the bedroom window at the same time.
Re-sealed the whole conservatory and cleaned the roof (which needs doing again!)
Glossed the small garage door (both sides) and varnished the large door.
Cleaned under the driveway awning (loads of cobwebs!)
Re-sealed the kitchen
Disposed of all the garden cuttings (we had boxes and boxes of branches!)
Stripped the wallpaper off the wall in the bedroom ready to paint

Not too bad!

When Sophie arrived home, hot and tired, we cracked open a bottle of New Zealand Pinot Gris and watched 90 Day Fiance. I am wondering whether Keith will go to the pub in a couple of weeks time to catch up with his mates... I think he will!

Dinner tonight was fish pie which rapidly disappeared and then it was time to relax. Unfortunately, Mike is working tomorrow and starts at 5am...hmmm!
