Helping the economy!

Day 91

Sophie went back to running this morning and she said it was already hotting up by 8am. I think we're definitely in for a mini heatwave this week!

Keith and I went down to B&Q this morning and bought some paint, as before I go back to work on the 4 July, we are going to decorate our bedroom, something we've been meaning to do for quite a while. We picked out some paint - Dulux White Mist - for the walls and ceiling. I don't really want to change the curtains or the blind so this will go well with the colours we already have.

We also bought a small mirrored cabinet for our main bathroom...finally! After popping into Aldi next door to get food for the next three nights (with the weather in mind, we've gone for barbecue foods and quiches served with salads) we drove across the road to Tapi to enquire about bedroom carpets. Our bedroom carpet is way past its best (it's been down nearly twenty years) and is mostly covered by rugs that have a tendency to creep and ruck up, which is highly annoying. We asked whether we could order the same carpet we had last year for the living room, stairs and landing, but it had been discontinued, which was a real shame.

We were told what material the carpet was made from and guided over to an area that had similar carpets. After some discussion, we chose one we both liked and which is similar to the carpet we have on the landing. We ordered it, paid for it and now we need to decorate! It should be with us in about three weeks and we will have to take up the old carpet and underlay, as we did before. That should be fun with our super-king bed!

Back home we told Sophie what we'd done and she was very bemused as to why we hadn't brought samples home! We explained we just wanted to get it done today and I have only two weeks before I start back at work in which to get it all done. When we told her how much money we'd spent today she gasped! Well, we are helping the economy!

I cooked dinner again tonight - the pasta carbonara that we had originally planned to have last night and very good it was too! Keith is barbecuing tomorrow night and for the first time in ages we are going to eat outside!
