It's Beckworth, but not as we know it!

Poor Mike was at work once again and called us at about 10am to go and pick him up. He always seems to call just as I've made a cup of coffee!

It's been another gorgeous day today with warm sunshine and blue skies. I love days like this in September! I changed our bedding and later in the morning Sophie and I went to Tesco to get Mum and Dad some bits they had asked for. Tesco was very busy indeed, more like a Saturday than a Sunday, and I thought back to decades ago when the shops remained closed on this day and the streets were empty! Not any more!

After getting some more diesel (we are certainly going through it at the moment!) we drove to Beckworth to have lunch. They have converted the skating area into a large garden restaurant and, although it was still Beckworth, it seemed a lot different! Quite a weird feeling!

We had to wear masks until we got to our table and then we could take them off, thankfully. I really liked the layout of the restaurant and it was very green and leafy!

We had a good peruse of the menu, and I chose a jacket potato with tuna mayonnaise while Sophie decided on a pulled pork panini. The food was as good as ever, and it was lovely to sit and relax for a while and forget about the worries we have at the moment.

It was a bit hot under the glass roof, though and when we left the temperature in the car was registering 25c! We drove home where we had time for a quick nap, and then it was off to see Mum and Dad in the garden room for our weekly visit.

My Dad was in good spirits and was joking with us, which was great, but Mum seemed a bit restless and confused again. She did ask about Sophie's boyfriend, though and they had a look at photos of them together. We left after an hour and went home to relax before we started dinner. With the weather forecast showing warmer temperatures for today, we had decided to barbecue, but it was almost dark by the time Keith finished. I have really noticed how dark it's getting in the evenings now. Autumn is definitely here!
