A spot of Christmas shopping!

Sophie and I left home at 9am this morning and drove to Milton Keynes to do some shopping. I had thought the shops opened at 10am so I was very surprised to find the multi-storey car park virtually empty...

We realised, when we went into the centre itself, that the shops opened at 10.30am for browsing so no wonder it was quiet! We had a coffee in Costa and sat down just before crowds of people arrived! We sat by the window and looked out over blue skies - what a difference to yesterday!

As we still had some time to kill we ambled off to John Lewis and looked at the Christmas display in the huge area opposite. As always, it was gorgeous!

There were some lovely moving bears, a train ride and a helter skelter as well as a beautiful carousel. The children were having a wonderful time!

We had a quick look in Flying Tiger (full of tat) and then we were able to go into John Lewis where we had a good look around. We bought presents for Keith and looked at jewellery for my Mum before heading off to Accessorize as Sophie needed to get a Secret Santa present for work. We also had a look in HMV for Mike's present and Sophie bought an Elvis Presley Christmas CD to play in the car!

By now the centre had filled up considerably so we headed to M&S, stopping at House of Fraser on the way to look at their jewellery. Sophie spotted a lovely bracelet in there which was perfect and half price!

In M&S Sophie had a bra fitting and discovered she'd gone down a size across her back, which was good news. The woman fitting the bra was very chatty and when she saw the CD she told us she'd been to Gracelands last year on holiday.

By now we were flagging a bit so we decided to call it a day and drive to The Hub where we were going to have lunch in Las Iguanas. Luckily there was plenty of parking and we walked the short distance to the restaurant which was only a quarter full.

We chose nachos with chicken to start followed by a chicken burger for Sophe and mini chorizo hot dogs served with salad for me. The food was delicious and our waiter was great, and from Brazil!

We finished with Brazilian Brigadeiro which was ice-cream, chocolate ganache and malted nuts. It was delicious!

Unfortunately the weather had changed while we'd been shopping and it was cloudy and dull. We drove home and then did very little - I managed a nap on the sofa! At about 6.30pm, the phone rang and it was Mike asking if we could pick him up from Gemma's house in East Hunsbury. The weather outside was dreadful with heavy rain but Sophie and I went to get him and the driving was very difficult. It was great to get home and have a drink and relax!
