Cloud burst!

We awoke to heavy rain this morning and a real change in the weather! Of course, this was typical as I'd asked my Dad to come in today (he's been trying to work fewer hours) to try and get some really important jobs done.

I'd also forgotten that it was Polling Day so a few schools in the area were closed for voting. It was great to see the car park fill up first thing as we had a pre-school group in who use a local village hall, which had been given over to the elections.

Mum, Dad and I struggled on with the things we needed to do (they both filled out a really long-winded form for the Valuation Office which carried a fine if we didn't do it!) and we managed to get everything done, despite keeping an eye on Reception and answering the phone. We were very busy indeed - what a difference to yesterday!

Mid-afternoon we had a storm and the rain lashed down. We saw flashes of lightening and heavy booms of thunder which was a bit dramatic! This unsettled weather is set to continue over the weekend so at least I won't have to water the garden!

We had hoped that the weather would improve in the evening as we were planning to barbecue but after sitting in the conservatory with a glass of Jacktone Ranch Petit Syrah (delicious!) and playing cards in the sunshine, the rain bucketed down when Keith went out to cook the steaks!
