This Sunday last year...

...we broke down on the way to the Winter Wonderland in London, something I only remembered as I drove down the M1 today!

Luckily, this Sunday's journey was a much better one and the temperatures much higher than last year when it was freezing! I think the thermometer hit 14 degrees centigrade today, so almost balmy! What a contrast! We weren't heading for the Winter Wonderland, either. Mum and I made the trip to see Nan who was feeling a bit down as she'd had £60 taken from her purse on Thursday and the warden that looks after her block of flats (and a lot of other people as well) think that a so-called "friend" of hers was responsible.

Naturally she was very upset, and the loss of money was the least of her worries as she was very down about the fact that someone she trusted had let her down like that. Life can be incredibly lonely for elderly people and she really enjoyed the contact she had with this person, something that will inevitably have to stop from now on.

We offered to take her out for lunch but she wasn't interested but she did ask us to go to Sainsbury's and get her some shopping, something we were only too glad to do.

We stayed until about 4.30pm and then made the journey home which was fast and without any mishaps, thank goodness!
