A spot of Christmas shopping

At lunchtime Sophie and I went to pick up Mum as we were all off to do some Christmas shopping in Milton Keynes.

Again, the weather has been lovely with blue skies ans sunshine but it has been a bit breezy. There is no sign of any snow at all so hopes of a white Christmas are fading fast! We had a good journey over to Milton Keynes and parked near John Lewis as this was out first stop...for lunch!

John Lewis was looking very festive with an endless choice of goodies for sale. I took some photos of their Christmas decorations:

Sophie wanted their delicious Moroccan Chicken soup so we each had a bowlful accompanied by a thick wedge of lovely bread. The cafe wasn't that busy so it was nice to sit and have a chat before we hit the shops. We also met an ex-neighbour (David of the gite in France story) and he was very friendly and chatty which was great. We hadn't seen each other for a while so it was great to catch up!

Sophie was looking for a thick winter coat for her forthcoming trips to Berlin and New York and Mum said she would buy her one for Christmas. We had a look in John Lewis but the styles were a bit old for my daughter so we went to Next, stopping off to try some perfumes on the way! We also managed to cadge some popcorn off a lady doing a demonstration and some cheese from the lovely Christmas market outside the store!

In Next I bought Sophie a couple of presents and she tried on coats with my Mum, but again, found nothing she liked at all. It was very hot in the store which was a bit silly as it was so mild outside! Why do they heat the shops so much?

On the way to M&S I popped into The Fragrance Shop as I'd pre-ordered Sophie some perfume and when I caught up with my Mum and daughter, Sophie had chosen a lovely coat with a fur-lined collar. It was a burnt orange coat with a black fur trim and looked perfect on her. While Mum went to buy it we headed up to the lingerie department so Sophie could book an appointment for a bra fitting. While she was being seen to it was lovely to sit and relax on a deep comfortable sofa!

Mum and I then went to the cafe for a much needed cup of tea while Soph went to New Look to get a few items of clothing. We chatted about Christmas and rested our weary feet before going to meet Sophie outside the shop.

We were nearing the end of our time for parking so we walked back to the car and made the journey home to Northampton through the evening rush hour traffic. I'd arranged to pick Mike up from Moulton so we just had time to pop in to see Dad before we had to leave to collect him after he'd been to see his girlfriend.

As a treat tonight we decided to have fish and chips for dinner but before we went to get them Keith and I went to the pub in Old for a couple of drinks. It had started raining and it was a fine drizzle that seems to soak into everything. We sat in the window and chatted over our drinks and it was very relaxing. A great end to a busy day!
