We find a tree!

We were up very early this morning as we were taking Mum and Dad into Northampton where they were picking up the coach for their Andre Rieu trip. We drove to the town in the rain and it was horrible...are we going to have a summer this year?

We were very early so we sat in the car park and waited and luckily the mini-bus arrived early at about 7.15am. They will go in this to Milton Keynes and then pick up a larger coach for their trip into Belgium and Holland. We waved goodbye and went home for coffee and breakfast before taking Sophie to work at 9am. She is covering Maureen again today and being cook all day, bless her.

The horrible grey weather disappeared by mid-morning and the sun came out which was lovely. It was very breezy though, but at least it was a warm wind! Keith went off for a walk and when he got home and had showered we went over to Podington Nursery to look for a tree again. We saw a Magnolia that looked perfect so we made a note of the name and went off to have a cup of tea and a scone. The place was very quiet which was great as we could wander around and not be pressurised by lots of people. Shopping in the week is definitely much better than doing it at the weekend!

We went to get the Magnolia and I realised it was a bush and not a tree...no good then! I'm so glad we read the details properly! This time we decided to get some advice so we asked a very knowledgeable man who recommended several trees for us. He was a bit worried about a Magnolia and frost so we opted for a Cherry tree that had a beautiful purply trunk and the same colour leaves. It was very striking. He kindly netted it for us and I picked out two geraniums that were in the sale and going for just a £1 each!

We drove to Mum and Dad's house and placed the tree on their patio between two chairs so it wouldn't fall over in the wind. I gave it a good drink and we went home to watch Wimbledon. On the way Mike called frantically asking us where we were as he wanted to go off and see his mates. He was at yet another party but was thankfully staying overnight! I felt very tired as I hadn't slept well last night and we were both up at 5.45am this morning for our taxi duties. We took him to Brixworth and came home where we were at last able to relax for an hour and see Roger Federer knocked out of the tennis! Shock!

Keith went off to the pub in the evening so I was able to watch half an hour of Andy Murray's game before it was time to pick up Sophie. She had had a busy day and was more than ready for a glass of wine!
