Sitting in the sun!

I had deliberately cooked too many potatoes last night so we could have the leftovers fried for breakfast this morning with scrambled eggs. They were delicious!

Sophie and I had decided to go to Milton Keynes at lunchtime with all the pet food pouches and Tassimo pods, and while my daughter was getting ready, I put all the bags in my car and sorted out the couple that Ruth had dropped off the other evening. I was so glad I'd done the bulk of the sorting earlier in the week!

The recycling filled the boot of my car, and it was a huge relief to drop them off at George's house. There were another two cars there, and one woman faffing about with bags who had been there for ages. We put all of our bags neatly behind the crate as there was no way they would fit inside!

From Milton Keynes, we drove to Olney but it was very busy and, as we passed Teapots, we could see the tables were full inside. There were no spaces in the car park so we decided to drive to Castle Ashby instead. We had to take the scenic route through the grounds of Castle Ashby itself as the road leading to the village was closed.

The previously grey and gloomy weather had given way to sunshine and a mix of blue skies and scudding clouds, and when we arrived at the courtyard shops, we took a table in the Buttery's outdoor area. By now we were both peckish so we chose the High Tea for two which consisted of a sandwich each, a piece of cake and a pot of tea.

The lunch was lovely and the food soon demolished!

Cake...gone!

After paying the bill, we had a wander around the food shop but we were slightly alarmed by the prices. Several bottles of wine were selling for between £18 and £20 and even packets of crisps were priced way above what was reasonable! They seemed to be serving food as well, with people sitting outside in the sunshine.

By now it was past 3pm and home was calling. When we returned, Sophie had a nap while I sat and caught up with the newspapers in the sunny conservatory. At 5pm it was Scrabble time and cocktails - what else on a Saturday evening?

Keity cooked a beautiful beef stroganoff for dinner, and after we'd eaten Keith and I watched an enjoyable film called The Ice Road starring Liam Neeson. It wasn't for Sophie so she went upstairs where she's now deep into Keeping Up With The Kardashians again. Thank goodness it's their last ever series!
