Remember, remember...

So, it's the 5th of November and after a busy day at work I took Sophie and Mikey to the fireworks in the village. Keith drove us up as we were home from work later than usual and dropped us off at the entrance to the lane which led to the farm. The bonfire and fireworks take place on a large field behind cow sheds and farmyards and it's always dark and bumpy to walk on, despite the little candles to light the way!

The bonfire was still unlit so we stood and waited in the cold. Although it was chilly, the evening was clear with an almost full moon illuminating the fields. At 6.30pm several men took torches to the huge bonfire and the thing caught very quickly!

The fire lit up all the faces around us although I still didn't see many people I knew. We were probably surrounded by friends and neighbours but everyone looked different in the dark!

As the bonfire raged the first of the fireworks went off and we had a great show. The kids went off to get some refreshments - mulled wine for Sophie and I and a burger for Mikey - and we enjoyed watching the display.

All too soon it was over and we walked home to a delicious, spicy chicken curry made by Keith. Perfect!
