Monday 25 July

So...the first day of the long summer holidays...I always feel a little wistful at this time of year, for some reason. Friends and family are going away, the streets are a lot quieter and the daily routine has been disrupted. I'm not sure whether children need six weeks off these days. Sophie commented over the weekend that she wished she was going back to school on Monday as she misses all her friends already!

As the weather was sunny and dry we were quiet at work so it was off at 4pm and out for a walk with Soph. I took some photos of the glorious fields, but am I right in thinking there was just the barest hint of Autumn in the hedgerows? The berries were beginning to ripen and there was a slight change in some of the leaves, moving from fresh green to a more tired looking hue. Before we know it we'll be wondering where the days of summer have gone!

The long uphill climb!
