While Keith was gone, I concentrated on housework and we had a late breakfast when he returned. I tried several times to call my Mum throughout the morning but there was no answer. What had she done with the phone now?! I set off to see her just before 2pm and when I arrived I asked if she still wanted to venture out. She was reluctant, so I sat with my parents for an hour and looked at the settings on the phone. Somehow, the ring volume had been turned to its lowest setting and even I had trouble hearing it. When I left the phone with her last week, I'd made sure it was turned up loud! Grrrr!
Mum then mentioned they were unable to get Netflix so I sorted that out for her as well, feeling glad I'd put the password onto my phone. When I tried to sign in, another email address was listed! What is going on?
I was a little annoyed, to be honest, and both issues with the phone and Netflix weren't accidents. I don't know whether the staff had tried to "help" or whether my Mum had been meddling with the settings! I drove home and decided to pamper myself for a change, so I applied the clay face mask again and watched the last two episodes of Motherland while Keith tuned into Cheltenham. I actually felt sad that I've seen the series and feel like I've lost some funny friends!
Earlier today, I had messaged Sara to see if I could work an extra day next Wednesday, as it dawned on me this morning just how much I need to get done before I go to Vienna on the 26th. This afternoon, Sara replied that it was OK, so I will devote next Wednesday to putting on all the holiday activities and trying to finish the moan report!
I also contacted my friends Lynda, Fiona and Andrea about postponing this Friday evening. We were supposed to have been going to Andrea's new house in Cranfield, but I hadn't put the date in my diary and honestly thought we were going later in the month. We will be getting up early on Saturday to head north, so I didn't fancy a late night on Friday! It was a good job I'd seen Fiona and Lynda at work on Monday when they'd been for a swim, as I just wouldn't have turned up! I'd suggested the 21st instead, and Andrea said she wanted to meet in Northampton. She said she would get the train from Milton Keynes and could we have dinner at a restaurant in town?
Well, I would rather have plucked out all my toenails than venture into Northampton on a Friday night, so that suggestion put me in a foul mood! Lynda and Fiona suggested Sophia's at the bottom of rowdy, horrible Bridge Street where there's no parking, meaning I'd have to ask Keith to drop me off and pick me up! I fumed for a good hour until I had the idea of meeting halfway between Cranfield and Northampton and elected to give Fiona and Lynda a lift. Luckily, everyone agreed so we have a table booked at The Three Cranes in Turvey. What a sensible idea!
When Sophie returned home we sat in the kitchen and I had a good moan about my day. We were so busy talking we didn't even have time for a game of cards!
