The first snow

It's been a bitterly cold day today, with snow flurries this morning. Winter has definitely arrived!

Keith and I attempted to put up a new blind in our bedroom this morning and it proved extremely difficult to do. We wanted to fit it inside the window and when Keith drilled holes he hit upon the steel or concrete lintel which meant he couldn't get the screws in far enough. When he eventually did manage to drill holes, the blind wouldn't click onto the fixtures. In the end, after a lot of swearing - and I threatened to throw the blasted thing out of the window - we gave up, and will fit it in the spare room instead, and outside of the window, which is easier. What made me mad was that it looked so easy on YouTube! Well, it would, wouldn't it? Keith was very annoyed that he'd been beaten by a stupid blind, but at least we can use it elsewhere in the house!

Monty has not been well again today and has barely moved from the sofa, not eating anything at all, which is worrying. He didn't even show any interest in the grilled hot dogs we had for lunch. They were delicious, grilled with onions and hot dog rolls!

We also indulged in a hot chocolate - well, it is the weather for it!

I had a soak in the bath in the afternoon and then it was time for Scrabble and a glass of wine. Sophie had prepared the dinner of sweet and sour chicken but it was still hard work as she had to coat each piece of meat with cornflour and then fry them. She started at about 6pm and we sat down to eat at 7.30pm. Maybe next Sunday we'll do something easier!

Mike and Abbie messaged us this evening as they're in Berlin and they ate at a restaurant in the Nikolai Quarter - Mutter Hoppe. Their meals looked delicious and typically Berliner:

Abbie with knuckle of pork and potatoes!

It won't be long before it's our turn!
