Two days in one

Wednesday:

I saw Sophie off to work at 8am and started my day with a coffee. My Mum called me before 9am and told me she didn't want to go out this afternoon, so I said I'd see her tomorrow instead. This meant I could pootle about all day and not leave the house! Heaven!

I caught up with jobs that needed doing and transcribed some more of my Nepal diary (two more days are now available). My 2015 book arrived while we were in France, so I'll take that over to Mum's tomorrow so she can have a good read. A lot has happened in ten years, not all of it good, but it'll be interesting for her to look back and remember a year that was important for all of us.

Thursday:

I returned to work and was horrified to see the number of emails that needed tackling. There were over one hundred, so I spent the whole shift dealing with them, managing to get them down to a more acceptable amount before I left.

The care home had left a message for me on my phone while I was working, and I learnt that my Dad had been taken to the hospital for an X-ray on his chest and had been prescribed antibiotics. It's certainly the season for it at the moment, and a couple of people in our office have been affected by colds and coughs. As I was going to see Mum anyway, I didn't call back, but dropped Keith off and went straight over.

Dad was still in the hospital, and I spoke to their carer, who said it was just a precaution. I gave my Mum the book and she was delighted with it. I also ordered her some more face cream (the one we bought the other Saturday hadn't turned up) and a hamper of chocolates from Amazon to cheer her up. I just hope they get to her tomorrow!
