The return of the wanderers!

I had a bad night's sleep and was awake at 5am. I wanted to know if the cats were in, so I went downstairs, dismayed to see the living room, kitchen and conservatory empty. By now, I was really worried about Mooney, as this wasn't like him at all. I opened the door to the garden and called both of them, and then went to the front door. Within a couple of minutes, I heard a miaow, and Mooney appeared. I was so relieved!

He seemed completely unfazed, gobbled down some food and then looked at me as if to ask what all the fuss was about! Sophie had heard me moving about, and she took Mooney to bed with her. I went back to sleep, thank goodness, until 8am!

Mooney hadn't lasted long with Sophie, as he had been jumping all over her, standing on her head and generally being a monkey. I suspected he'd been in the conservatory asleep all night and had gone out through the cat flap before I called for him.

We had various things we needed to get done today. Keith prepared vegetables for our spaghetti Bolognese dinner, and I put a colour on my hair. Sophie hoovered, tidied up, and did some cleaning. We discovered we had no Parmesan cheese or a bottle of red plonk for the sauce, so Keith and I drove over to Mawsley. We still hadn't seen Gomez, but I was less worried about him now. He was obviously on one of his escapades over the fields!

Once back, I prepared the Bolognese sauce so it could simmer all afternoon. It had started raining outside, and this wet weather is expected to last all week, ending a real dry spell. We were overjoyed to see Gomez come in late in the afternoon, soaking wet and ready for another long snooze on Sophie's bed. When we eventually managed to get Mooney in, that was it! We weren't going to let them out again this evening, and it was truly horrible outside with rain and wind.

Our tagliatelle Bolognese was delicious served with garlic bread and Parmesan cheese, and we cracked open a bottle of Chateauneuf-du-Pape to accompany the meal. After we'd eaten, we relaxed but it was an early night for all of us, including the cats!
