What day is it?

Because we've been so busy at work, and Sara was swamped with tasks, I offered to do half a day today. I'd been awake in the night thinking about the cash ups, so I sorted them out first, taking lots of bits of paper and making them into an orderly pile in date order. However,  because things had changed, I couldn't access the spreadsheet I needed... one step forward, two steps back!

This proved to be the case for today when I tried to print off the cinema returns. They refused to print even though I tried everything! It was so frustrating because I just wanted to get on and do as much as I could. In the end, I had to write everything down and transfer the figures onto the spreadsheet, to be printed at a later date. At least I was able to email the distributors and let them know the figures, which was a huge relief.

I stayed until 1pm and then drove home to have lunch and potter about, so it felt like a Thursday today! It's been yet another gorgeous day with blue skies and sunshine, but out of the warmth of the sun, it did feel a little chilly. Sophie wanted me to make Mulligatawny soup for dinner, so I did that, thanking Keith for preparing all the vegetables earlier in the day. It smelt delicious, simmering away on the hob. Mooney had been sitting on one of the barstools the whole time, so that was lovely! One of his favourite places is curled up in the kitchen on the barstool, and he pops his head up so we know he's there!

I have to confess to having a little nap once I'd prepared the soup. I haven't slept well for the last two nights, so a half-hour nap was most welcome and made me feel refreshed. By the time Sophie arrived home, I'd made the porridges, hoovered and tidied up.

All I had to do for dinner was cook a bag of rice and grill the naan breads, so we relaxed with a drink and Keith and I played cards. It was a more balanced match tonight! The soup was delicious and spicy, and the accompanying naan breads went perfectly with the dish. There was enough left over for lunch tomorrow, when I'm back at work again!
