Once Keith had returned from shopping, I started making the Bolognese sauce for dinner this evening. I have found the best way is to cook the sauce slowly for hours until it thickens and becomes unctuous! The smells were certainly divine!
In the afternoon, I suggested we go and get the VW cleaned in Market Harborough, so we drove over in the beautiful sunshine and took it to the carwash just outside the town. They did a fabulous job for £11. Sophie was amused by the carwash as I had to place the driver's side wheels onto a conveyor belt, and it moved along by itself! At the end, long furry cloths move over the car to dry it. It was a bit spooky, like long spider legs!
Sophie wanted a tub of Ben & Jerry's ice cream for dessert tonight, and I drove to the small Tesco Express where we bought something for a quick lunch as well. Back home, we relaxed and decided to eat early as both Sophie and Keith wanted to watch the Newcastle v Leicester game at 8pm.
Sophie opened a bottle of Chateauneuf-du-Pape... the celebrations were definitely still carrying on! The meal was delicious and had benefited from the long, slow cooking all afternoon. There was enough left for lunch tomorrow as we're back at work!
