Celebrations!

After yesterday, we had some catching up to do this morning. Loads of laundry needed to be sorted, and preparations were made for a roast chicken lunch. It was all hands on deck, with Keith preparing the vegetables and Sophie vacuuming the house.

I managed the laundry and cleaned the kitchen, managing to wash the light fittings over the island, which I've been meaning to do for ages. I then cooked lunch, which we enjoyed at 2pm. It felt almost like it was Christmas Day today, as we had pigs in blankets with the roast chicken, stuffing and roast potatoes. Sophie and I enjoyed a bottle of Austrian wine, and the meal was delicious! We benefit from not having a roast too often now! Keith had prepared enough vegetables (seven varieties) to have bubble and squeak tomorrow, so that will be an easy dinner!

By 3pm, the house was clean and tidy, the washing was drying, and the lunch was cleared away. Time to relax! Keith and Sophie wanted to watch Newcastle play Manchester United at 4pm, so we settled in the living room to watch the game. At 5pm, I had a bath, and when I went downstairs, I learned that Newcastle had won! It was the perfect excuse to open the bottle of Champagne we'd bought for Sophie's birthday and celebrate their win! It was gorgeous!

Sophie and I spent the rest of the evening watching Tempting Fortune, and very enjoyable it was, too!
