I changed the bed first, had a shower, and we set off to see my Mum and Dad. Unfortunately, my visit wasn't as good as Saturday, and Mum told me that the clothes she'd picked out over the weekend didn't fit as they were too big. I gathered them up to return them, glad that I had the receipt in my bag. I gave my Dad the CD I'd ordered for him, but he certainly didn't appear as pleased as I thought he would! Lastly, Mum said the moisturising cream we'd bought had disappeared... oh joy!
I fled back to the car, where Keith had been reading the newspaper, and we drove to Tesco. We left the car with the carwash men, and I took Mum's clothes, plus two Tassimo bags full of pods, into the store. While I returned the clothes, Keith bought some euros. I had also popped into Timpson's to renew the battery in Sophie's spare key fob, as yesterday her main key wasn't working and she couldn't open the car!
Before shopping, we enjoyed a coffee and something to eat and checked our list. The joy of driving on holiday is that we can take whatever we fancy, and we already had a shopping bag full of the essentials. We did a quick shop and on the way back to the car, collected a jacket Sophie had had dry-cleaned and her key.
The car gleamed in the sunlight, and we popped to get petrol, but Keith had trouble using his card! He gave up, we put some air in the tyres and then tried again at a different pump. This time, he was able to fill up completely, thank goodness!
Back home, I packed what we were taking grocery-wise in two shopping bags and put them in the car, along with maps of Northern France and, of course, our Scrabble game! I would hate to forget that!
The rest of the afternoon was spent doing yet more chores, hoovering the house and finishing the packing. I used to spend hours cleaning the house when we used to go away, but Sophie and I had already cleaned on Sunday, and I'm a little more relaxed now, although I do love to come home to fresh sheets! It's just one of the lovely things about coming home!
We had an easy dinner of chicken escalopes, wedges and salad and had an early night. Our alarms are set for 3am!
