I started on the washing and we watched an hour of Saturday Morning Kitchen, pleased for Matt Tebbutt, who will be replacing Gregg Wallace on Masterchef: The Professionals. As we had a lot to sort out, though, we sat at the kitchen island and sorted out our finances. I paid Sophie for my half of the bills and said I would cover the hotel costs if she paid for a couple of meals. The two days had cost far more than we had anticipated, but we enjoyed ourselves immensely, and it's not something we do every month! We both agreed to lie low over the next couple of months and resist the urge to go out for lunch! Cocktails and Scrabble are lovely at home!
I'm just glad that Keith and I put away a sum of money every week for holidays, which will cover our trip to France in a few weeks! All three of us also pay into the "Dad cat" fund to pay Isla when she looks after Mooney and Gomez while we're away.
The rest of the day was spent washing, getting everything dry, and writing the blog. Keith went to see Sileby play in the afternoon, and it was lovely to stay at home and rest my foot.
We had cold meats, salad and crushed new potatoes for dinner, and decided to watch the US Open Women's Final at 9pm. What a difference to quiet, elegant Wimbledon! There was a lot of loud music, the unfurling of the American flag over the tennis court, a woman playing a guitar and singing, and a huge crowd!
We watched until 10pm, when it became obvious that Sabalenka would beat Anisimova and then retired to bed. Tomorrow, the Men's Final is on at 7pm, so we're hoping to watch the match in its entirety!
