RIP little barbecue!

First thing this morning at work, I put the finishing touches to the moan report, which pleased me greatly! I now need to start on April's!

My shift passed quickly, and after dropping Keith at home, I drove over to the care home to see Mum and Dad. I brought up the M&S website on my phone and we looked at new bras for Mum. The retailer has suffered a cyber attack in the last week, so I wasn't able to order them, just add them to a wish list. As soon as I can, I'll order them for her.

Dad asked me again about his CD player, so I put it on for him and we listened to a beautiful André Rieu album. Dad then said another of his CDs wasn't working, so I put that on. My Mum then decided to have an attack of the maudlins and started crying... not really what I needed this afternoon! She said it wasn't fair that they had ended up in a care home, and I retorted by saying that it wasn't fair those three beautiful little girls in Southport had been murdered by a maniac, and life certainly isn't fair. I may sound callous, but my parents have a much better life than some elderly people who live all alone and don't see anybody, while struggling to pay their bills.

After Mum's bout of crying, I sat with them and looked at the holiday book I'd made for them and realised that one of the holidays was missing! The one where I'd made them drive a 200-mile round trip to see the village where Alain Fournier had been born, the author who had written one of my favourite books, Le Grand Meaulnes. I was mystified as to how that had happened!

Driving home, the outside temperature had crept up to about 27c so it was a relief to get home and change into a summer dress. Keith barbecued tonight and said that this would be the last time we'd be able to cook on it as it was knackered, poor thing. We'll probably buy another one and we sat and fantasised about building an outdoor kitchen in the area of garden behind the garage!

After dinner, Keith disappeared upstairs to watch the snooker while Sophie and I watched last night's Race Across the World. Halfway through, she asked if she could have a nap, so I tuned into a show on ITVX that I've been meaning to watch for a few weeks: Fake, set in Australia. I was quickly hooked! Outside, it looked a little stormy with clouds gathering on the horizon. We'd opened the windows to catch the evening breeze, and it was a lovely end to a busy day!
