I had a busy shift at work and cleared all the emails. I now need to focus on the films tomorrow and maybe start the moan list! At 2pm, I dashed home and removed the polish from my toenails as our chiropodist, Kim, was due at 2.30pm. She did a great job as usual, and my feet felt lovely and soft afterwards!
When she'd gone, Keith and I went to Old to take a parcel that had been delivered for our old neighbours, Tom and Emma. I didn't think for one minute she would be in as she had always been terribly shy when she lived next door to us, but she answered when I knocked, and we had a lovely chat. I was completely taken aback! This was the first time I'd spoken to her properly, and they'd lived next door to us for about four years!
Today has been grey and chilly - not ideal weather for the VE celebrations! We weren't able to go to the village to see the beacon lit, as we'd arranged to go out with Mike for dinner this evening, to The Lamplighter in town. Just before we went, we waited to see who the new pope would be... but he didn't appear before we left.
Luckily, we found a space on the street opposite the pub to park Olive, and when we went in, Mike was already there waiting for us. We had a thoroughly lovely evening, chatting about lots of things, and both brother and sister were affectionate towards each other for a change! What a difference it makes!
Tonight was burger night, so we all indulged and shared a platter of chilli nachos to start. My diet was relaxed for one night! Mike and Keith had a few beers, and even Sophie sipped a local IPA. I stuck with one of my favourites, Leffe.
We left just before 10pm and drove home through the darkening evening. The cats came in before we went to bed and relaxed with us for half an hour. A lovely end to a sociable day!
