A good browse!

I fought the urge this morning to get up at 6.30am and watch Fake! Instead, I fell asleep again and woke up a little bit later, feeling refreshed!

On Thursday, I had downloaded the Proms Festival programme onto Kindle, and both Sophie and I were delighted to see that on the 4th of September, there was a film night with music from some of our favourite movies. The conductor was Edwin Outwater, and he conducted the orchestra last year for the Mancini night. This morning, I learnt we had to make a plan for the sessions we wanted to attend and then submit it on the 17th of May in the hope of getting tickets. We even looked at a hotel in London to stay the night as a treat. We're keeping everything crossed!

Sophie also learned this morning that she had booked to see Levison Wood at Derngate for the same night as the Eurovision Song Contest, meaning this will be the second year running she won't be able to watch it live. She was gutted!

We had hash browns and baked beans for breakfast, and at midday drove over to Weedon to visit the book shop and the antique emporium. We enjoyed a cup of tea and a slice of cake first before having a good browse. I bought a couple of French grammar books as well as an English one, and a travel book. I treated Keith to a couple of books as well; there was so much choice! I have never seen so many books in one place, and there wasn't enough space on the shelves! The value is brilliant, with most books priced at about £2!

Downstairs, we had a good look in both the vintage and antique shops and Sophie treated herself to more glasses and a couple of tee-shirts. I am still on the lookout for a vintage cocktail trolley. One day I will find it!

We headed home, calling into Waitrose on the way to pick up some bits we needed, namely granola and yoghurt for breakfast tomorrow, and a bottle of Chambord to make French Martinis.

Sophie was supposed to be cooking sweet and sour chicken this evening, but she wasn't in the mood, so we ordered a takeaway instead. While we were waiting for the food to be delivered, Sophie made us a delicious cocktail, and we had a look at hotels in Costa Rica, a destination we'd love to visit. We are thinking of going in 2028, but we were shocked by the prices for hotels (well, the sort we wanted to stay in!). One holiday was priced at £13,000!

Sophie then suggested we look at Airbnbs in the country, and we found that they were much better priced. Direct flights with BA were also reasonable, so it's a definite plan! We had two cocktails, enjoyed a lovely Chinese takeaway and watched Skyfall after we'd eaten. Tonight, Sophie made sure all the windows upstairs were closed because the last time we watched the film, Gomez took an unexpected flight and became "Catman"!
