Musings on the past

It was back to normal today, and I managed to answer all the emails and do lots of other admin work, so I was kept lovely and busy! The office wasn't too noisy, either! A definite bonus!

At 4pm, Keith collected me and we made our way home through heavy traffic. In the car, Keith mused about being able to fly abroad from Sywell Airport (as in big planes; small ones take off regularly), and I said that the traffic would then be horrendous, or we'd have a much larger infrastructure of roads in the area. I do remember a time in the 1970s when the small village of Yardley Hastings, and nearby Yardley Chase, were facing a threat to their peaceful existence by suggestions that the area would be the site of London's third airport! Can you imagine?  There was so much opposition from local people that the plan was eventually shelved, and Stansted was developed instead. I think about it every time I drive through quiet, rural Yardley Hastings!

Which, of course, brings me to our latest development: Universal in Bedford! I am beyond thrilled it's going to happen and can't wait for it to be up and running! Will I have grandchildren by then? Who knows!

Back home, I did thirty minutes on the bike again and pootled about doing the usual evening chores. Sophie wanted me to cook roast potatoes with dinner tonight, so I duly obliged, and they were delicious served with cauliflower and broccoli cheese and chicken Kyivs.

After we'd eaten, Keith and I watched a moving documentary on the Blitz with colourised footage of people coping with the war. It was fascinating!
