Car troubles!

First thing this morning, we trooped down to Brackmills to try and start Sophie's car. We had to go to the security hut first to ask them to unlock the gates. There was a van parked outside waiting to go in and this turned out to be very fortuitous...

Keith tried to start the car and it was as dead as a dead thing. The man in the van, who was doing maintenance work in the grounds, said he had a set of jump leads, and with the help of the security man, we managed to get little ET going. They must have been our guardian angels!

Keith drove the Hyundai home, and then we went back out to get a jerry can of petrol for ET as Sophie was very low on fuel. We didn't want to risk getting petrol on the way home as we were worried it wouldn't start again! Each time we went out, we became embroiled in the Holcot car-boot traffic, which was somewhat wearying. We couldn't believe the line of traffic stretching up to the A43 as people left!

Our third outing was down to Brackmills to drop off a couple of boxes of chocolates for the security guard and the maintenance man, and we popped into Pets At Home on the way back to get a larger litter tray, litter and treats for the cats. Keeping them in is challenging, especially with the weather set to get hotter over the next few days!

Back at home, Keith decided to try and start the car again, but it was dead with not a hint of life. We were beginning to think it was the battery so we ordered a set of jump leads from Amazon. We'll have to try and get it going somehow to take it to the garage next week!

We decided to go to the pub for lunch and relax, which was very pleasant. We sat in splendid isolation in the back room and enjoyed sandwiches and a bowl of chips accompanied by a couple of drinks. Outside it was warm and humid with clouds gathering.

We spent the afternoon relaxing and managed to get the soft collar onto Gomez. He wasn't happy but he wasn't as stressed as he was when we put the cone on him!

None of us fancied dinner in the evening and we watched the Olympic swimming all evening. With all the windows and doors closed, the house felt warm and stuffy. Normally I have as many windows and doors open as I can! The swimming pool water looked very cool and inviting!
