Shock news

Today was uneventful until I returned home from work, and Keith took a call on our landline. We rarely receive calls on this now, and it's mainly nuisance callers, but this afternoon it was Val's carer, Glenda, to let us know he had just died. Even though we were expecting it at some point, it was still a shock.

Glenda thought that the funeral would take place after our holiday, and from a selfish point of view, I hope it's not until the middle of July. We have no control over this, though, so we'll just have to wait and see.

Keith then spoke to his niece, Elsa, who had messaged him on Facebook. I let Sophie and Mike know, so it was a bit of a subdued evening. I discovered that Val was 95, so he had a good innings, and we honestly think he'd had enough and wanted to slip away peacefully.

I sent Elsa some photos of the family taken at a wedding years ago, and she really appreciated seeing them!
