We awoke to more grey skies today and another dry, chilly day. Spring seems to have shrunk back into its nest and next week it's set to get very cold indeed!
I took Mike to college while Sophie and Keith went for a long walk and returned to do some ironing. When my husband and daughter returned we had breakfast and then it was time for a shower before driving to Milton Keynes with Sophie to do some shopping.
We took the A508 towards Milton Keynes, but lo and behold! the road was closed just before we reached the village of Yardley Gobion! I was really annoyed because the M1 was running well and I should have taken that road! Luckily, we turned right onto a narrow country road and linked up with the A5 which took us all the way to Milton Keynes.
After parking we walked the whole distance to John Lewis and Sophie had a good look at a pair of headphones she's coveted since before Christmas. The ones she uses at the moment have stopped working and the new ones will get a lot of use so I urged her to treat herself. She has worked really hard on her assignments just lately so I said she deserved them.
They weren't in stock (what a surprise) so she ordered them and they'll be delivered to Waitrose in Kingsthorpe on Saturday, ready for collection. We went to the cafe and enjoyed a bowl of soup and some bread before we returned to the shops and Sophie spent the River Island vouchers that Mum and Dad had given her and Mike for Easter.
She also went to Schuh and bought some Vans with her birthday money and although she looked at the Mac make-up in Debenhams, she didn't buy any! I treated Keith to a book about Berlin in the 1970s and then we headed home...on the M1! I wasn't making any more mistakes with taking the wrong road! Although we had one short delay on the motorway, the traffic was a lot better than I expected and we arrived home before Keith had gone to the pub.
Mike was happy with the tee-shirt Sophie had chosen for him...even though it was pink!
