We chatted about the new office, and I brought up the subject of working from home with her. I also asked about the carpet we were supposed to have, but she said that our MD had delayed the decision until we had worked in the office for a while. I was shocked, as the carpet would have absorbed some of the noise!
Luckily, the day passed swiftly, and I made great progress with the moan report, almost finishing it before I left at 4pm. The care home had called me twice today, and as soon as I returned to the car, I called them. My Mum, ignoring my pleading yesterday, had fallen over again, cutting her eye. I spoke to a paramedic who said that her blood pressure was low. I asked that they not take her into hospital, and the paramedic asked if I had Power of Attorney... everyone keeps asking this! It's not going to happen any time soon!
The traffic tonight was bad, and I was forced to go a different way as the queue to leave the hospital grounds wasn't moving. It was dark and foggy, and I felt totally miserable! I arrived home at 4.45pm again, so an extra half an hour on my old commute!
However, moaning aside, it was lovely to look forward to ten days off and a trip to Berlin! My Mum called me, sounding completely normal, and I scolded her gently about her fall. Sophie arrived home at about 5.30pm, and we relaxed with a drink and a chat in the office about our days. I sorted out my Dad's clothes, ready to take to an Age UK shop tomorrow.
Dinner was simple, and Keith and I watched the Christmas special of University Challenge. We were able to answer a few of the questions!
R.I.P. Chris Rea - you will be sadly missed. 💔
