A sociable day!

I saw Sophie off to work this morning and then settled down to watch a film called Laura, starring Gene Tierney and Dana Andrews. This is not something I usually do first thing in the morning, but it made a nice change!

I didn't finish the film, and Keith and I took showers before I booked an appointment at Brixworth recycling centre to get rid of Dad's clothes that I didn't want to donate. I also called The Hope Centre in Northampton to make sure I could still donate his warmer clothes. Imagine my disappointment when they said they were no longer accepting donations as they had had so much that they had run out of storage space... I was annoyed because we had spent two days washing and drying the clothes in preparation for taking them to the shelter! I'll just have to contact a charity shop and take them somewhere over the weekend.

Keith and I dropped off the less-than-best clothes at Brixworth, and I bumped into my friend Fiona, who was having a clear-out. I was surprised to see her so far from where she lives in the middle of Northampton, but she said she preferred Brixworth to Sixfields - there was a nicer atmosphere! We had a chat before heading into the town to visit Jones's. On the way, I mentioned breakfast, and Keith reluctantly agreed!

We decided to visit The Windhover near Boughton and chose the cooked breakfast. The place was pleasantly busy with people enjoying breakfast, but mainly having just hot drinks. The food was exceptionally good and plentiful, with a fried egg, sausages, bacon, beans, mushrooms, a tomato, toast and hash browns. I do love a good English breakfast now and again! We decided, after we'd eaten, to skip dinner tonight!

From The Windhover, we drove to Jones's because I needed some more Christmas cards. It had been ages since we last visited, and I picked out some beautiful cards as well as candles, reading glasses for Keith, cloths and incense sticks. Keith can never get enough of them!

We took a longer route home, and I showed Keith where I'd be working tomorrow. He will drop me off, and we've arranged for Sophie to collect me at 2pm as she wants me to accompany her to M&S to get breakfast foods for her Christmas office do on Friday.

Back home, I was pootling about when the doorbell rang, and it was my friend Lynda! She arrived with gifts for the children and cards, and we sat and chatted for an hour. When she went, I carried on with my jobs, which kept me occupied for the rest of the afternoon.

As Keith and I didn't have dinner, and Sophie was content to have a fishfinger sandwich, we had a lovely, relaxed evening! I don't think it hurts now and again to have a very light supper!
