A little shopping

Sophie and I were off work today, and at 10am we drove over to Tesco at Kettering to buy food, toiletries and baby items for the local food bank. Sophie collects money every year at work but we only had £100 (including contributions from ourselves) this year. It was much less money than she collected in 2023, which was disappointing. As well as the money, we had several bags of groceries, so we concentrated on toiletries, baby items and baby food today.

It didn't take us long at all, and after we'd packed it away in the car, we had a cup of coffee and shared a sausage bap. It was then time to shop for my Mum and Dad and I bought them clothes from each other, as well as buying cards and chocolates for the carers.

The food bank closes at 1pm so we drove over, deposited our bags and gave a box of chocolates to the staff. Sophie became a little emotional as we were leaving as a couple of people were queueing up to receive parcels, and she said how lucky we were that we didn't have to worry about food or where our next meal was coming from.

Before going home we dropped off Mum and Dad's shopping, had a chat with them and then took the scenic route back. It's been a windy day today and we were blown about like mad when we were packing the shopping in the car!

Back home, Sophie heated up last night's pasta for lunch and we pootled about for the rest of the afternoon. I had no idea what day it was because Sophie was off as well! It felt like a Saturday or Sunday! Later in the afternoon we walked around the estate and delivered cards to our neighbours. We were hoping Mooney would come with us but he was nowhere to be seen, the little monkey!

Dinner tonight was a savoury mince crumble and we drank a red wine with the meal, so no whisky tonight! I will have a fair few to try over the weekend, perhaps!
