Watching Wimbledon!

We were facing another sociable day as Laura and her little Dachshund puppy, Wilbur, were coming over this afternoon for lunch and to watch the Men's Singles Finals at Wimbledon.

Before popping to see Mum and Dad, Sophie and I cleaned downstairs again and prepared all the food for lunch. We drove over to Kettering, delivered the flowers, cards, and Champagne, and had a chat. Mum and Dad were celebrating fifty-seven years today!

Back home we were able to relax for a little while and Laura arrived at 12.30pm, with little Wilbur. She had a big bag for Wilbur's things and a bag of nibbles for us, bless her! Wilbur was very excited about being somewhere new and with new people. He raced about and explored everywhere downstairs!

We ate lunch at 1pm and enjoyed an assortment of salads, cold meats, crusty bread, and nibbly bits, all washed down with Prosecco. At 2pm we went to sit in the living room, and Keith went upstairs to watch the cricket.

To make it a bit more interesting, Sophie and I had a bet. I said that Djokovic would win, and Sophie said Alcaraz, so the loser would buy the other a bottle of Champagne and nibbles for next Friday's wine night. It started promisingly for me, with Djokovic taking the first set but Alcaraz came back in the second and beat Djokovic in a tie-breaker. He then smashed the third set before Djokovic took the fourth. I had a feeling that things were all over when Alcaraz broke his serve and Djokovic lost his temper and smashed his racquet against the wooden pole holding the net. It was soon all over and I now have to buy Sophie a bottle of Champagne!

Laura went home shortly afterwards, as Wilbur wouldn't settle and was being a little monkey, trying to bite her and obsessed with chewing the bottom of one of our armchairs! He was a gorgeous little bundle, though, and going through a teething stage!

We'd enjoyed the Key Lime Pie halfway through the match and more Prosecco. It was a great afternoon!
