Catching up!

The clear blue skies and sunshine were a distant memory when we awoke to rain and heavy grey skies this morning. We were taking Mum and Dad to his old flying field near Higham Ferrers and had arranged to pick them up at 10am.

I was slightly apprehensive about the whole thing as the weather was disappointing, and I was worried about getting Dad out of the car and into his wheelchair. However, the rain had at least stopped, and after stopping for a quick coffee nearby, we made it to the field by 10.30am.

The field is in the middle of nowhere, so it's perfect for flying model aeroplanes, some of which are huge! We saw two men out on the flying strip, but the rest were in the shed, having a coffee and chatting. They were very pleased to see my Dad, and we spent a pleasant hour chatting and catching up with what had been happening over the last eighteen months. I think it did my Dad a lot of good getting out and meeting his old mates again after such a long absence!

We dropped them back off at the care home at midday and sped home to have a bite to eat and sort out the shopping list. I tidied up and then we drove over to Aldi and Tesco where we did our shop in record time! Luckily, it was quiet!

We just had time back at home to put everything away (I grabbed something to eat this time) before getting Mike from work. He'd been bitten on his foot and ankle which is one of the hazards of his job. At least today there were no rabbits to be rescued!

Phew! It's been another busy day! It'll be good to go back to work tomorrow for a rest!
