Afternoon storm!

Mike was at work again this morning and we picked him up at about 10am. It was another grey and misty morning and it felt very humid and close.

We spent the morning mooching about the house and had Chinese takeaway leftovers for lunch. In the afternoon Sophie and I went down to the St James retail park to visit Homesense. This shopping area is getting emptier as various shops close - it's lost Toys R Us, DW Fitness, Mothercare, and Laura Ashley is also closing down. It's such a shame that so many businesses have gone to the wall.

We donned our masks and had a good look around in Homesense. I bought a new silvery grey lampshade for our bedroom, some new wine glasses and tumblers, a pack of grey flannels and a lovely scented candle. Sophie bought a bottle of Cava and some biscuits. I was looking for pictures for the bedroom and maybe curtains, but we decided to try and get our headboard sorted first.

When we emerged from the store, the sky looked very stormy indeed. When we arrived home we heard the first rumbles of thunder and then it started pouring with rain. Sophie and I stood and watched the rain and lightning from the safety of the driveway and it was great to finally have a good storm! The rain continued to really lash it down and we heard it had flooded the centre of Wellingborough, not far away!

Dinner tonight was Spanish tapas and Sophie cooked everything, including delicious patatas bravas. We also enjoyed, crusty bread, Spanish hams and an omelette. The food was lovely accompanied by our new favourite drink, an Aperol Spritz!
