Day 73
Keith and I went to get some shopping for my Dad this morning and headed to Aldi in Kingsthorpe. There wasn't really a queue to go in but I was told I couldn't accompany Keith even though he was shopping for us. We each had to take a trolley! This led to a rant from me about the rules at the moment - can we at least have some consistency? Some stores let two people in together, some don't and that includes the same supermarkets! What problem is there with two people shopping together? We had to use two trolleys, therefore risking spreading the virus (if we have it) to two different pieces of equipment! Once in the store we walked around together, which makes a mockery of the rules! I sometimes think that people just issue these orders because they can, and a little bit of power goes to their head! Common sense seems to have gone out of the window at the moment!
We took the shopping to Dad and then headed home to make sure Mike was ready for his interview at 12.30pm. This time there were no blue skies for the golfers, just a chilly wind and heavy, leaden clouds. Mike emerged from the clubhouse after about ten minutes and told us the decision was between him and another lad and that he would find out this evening.
Back home, within half an hour, the phone rang and it was the guy at the golf club letting Mike know he had got the job and would start next week! Woohoo!! We were all so pleased and relieved and it looks like Mike will be wearing a work uniform which is good news as he had to supply his size.
I did some housework in the afternoon and when Sophie finished work we had a drink and started watching the series about lottery winners in Florida. Just what we needed on a cloudy day, but having said that, the sky did clear up in the evening and we saw some sunshine.
Keith excelled himself with dinner tonight - a delicious home-made beef pie with loads of vegetables and gravy. Perfect for a chilly June day!
