A bad dinner choice!

It's been another horrible day today and this morning, on the way to B&Q to buy a rat bait box, it absolutely chucked it down. We bought a box in the store for £15 plus some extra bait and also a new carbon monoxide alarm as ours had stopped working.

The weather didn't really improve all day but we did manage to get out for a brief walk in the afternoon as I needed to post a letter. Keith and I went and we took Monty who was very reluctant to go at first, but soon ran along with us, his tail held high. After posting the letter we walked down to the gate to see the horses who were a bit skittish today. Monty disappeared into the undergrowth and one horse came to see us and let us pat him.

We carried on around the estate and then returned home to play cards in the conservatory. For dinner tonight we'd decided, in a moment of madness, to have venison sausages in a red wine sauce, but we decided in the end to just oven cook them and serve them with mashed potatoes and vegetables. I had a feeling the kids wouldn't eat them as they looked a bit redder than the normal pork sausages we have, and I was right! Sophie took one mouthful and refused to eat any more and Keith himself just managed one...it was his idea!
