Storm Katie

It was lovely to know that this morning we could all have a lie-in and a relaxed start to the day. I made a "big breakfast" this morning and we sat down to scrambled eggs, bacon, sausages, baked beans and hash browns with toast. It's something I hardly do at the moment as we all have to rush off every morning normally!

Mike went to see Heather and back home I caught up with writing my blog and watched the birds in the garden. The weather today has been very stormy and overnight we had torrential rain but during the day it's been a mixture of sunshine and showers which made for very interesting skies!

In the afternoon we popped to Lidl in Rushden as we needed some bottled water and Sophie was going mad cooped up in the house! She hadn't really been out, apart from our meal last night, since Thursday so we said we'd go to Lidl and take a leisurely drive home.

Lidl was very quiet and after picking up some essentials we drove home via Kettering. The sky was a gorgeous blue with huge fluffy white clouds floating along. It was definitely a "Florida sky"!

Back home we walked Monty around the estate but the wind was still quite strong and cold. We walked down to the gate and looked out over the fields and of course, the little robin was there as well. Earlier in the day we'd looked at the farm buildings and apart from a couple of ugly corrugated iron sheds, there wasn't much left. Amazingly, the chickens were still pecking about!
