Keith and I spent the morning and early afternoon giving our kitchen a really good clean, including all the beer glasses we have displayed on top of the cabinets, which was a major job in itself!
The plan is to try and get this room decorated next which will be tricky as painting above the cabinets is a hard job. Maybe I can try and convince Keith to do it for me while I tackle the rest!
In the evening, after dropping Mike off at Army Cadets, we picked up Sophie's friend Daisy as they were heading to The Lamplighter for a drink and a meal. Keith and I had planned to go to a new pub (for us anyway) called The Garibaldi Hotel, which has recently been refurbished and now boasts a range of "craft beers".
We knew vaguely where it was, in a maze of backstreets that used to house Northampton's Boot and Shoe workers. The area has become a little seedy and once we found the pub there was nowhere nearby to park. The alternative would have been to park in the large carpark about a ten minute walk away but neither of us fancied doing that as it was a very cold evening!
We decided to maybe come back during the day and have a lunchtime drink so we headed for The Princess Alexandra pub and parked easily in the small carpark across the road. The pub was very quiet with only a handful of other people in and we sat by the window which was a mistake as it was freezing!
We had a couple of drinks and then returned to The Lamplighter at 9pm to collect the girls. They were both in high spirits and had had a great time chatting and eating the lovely food. We dropped Daisy at home and collected Mike before heading home where we finished our evening with the 10pm news and a warming dram of whisky!
