Today has been a long day at work as we had two parties after school and Sophie is now the only member of staff we have who can come in and do them in the evening.
I had to go home after lunch to get something I'd forgotten so Sophie drove Keith and I back in Jim. She was very nervous indeed, and after a bit of a shaky start when she kept stalling the car and she refused to drive any more, she did improve a lot and got a bit of confidence back. The trouble is that the engine of the Honda is very quiet and when you stop in it, you can barely hear the revs at all so we showed her to look at the rev counter and make sure that when it went up to move away.
It was a beautiful day and the roads were dry for once so we felt it was the perfect time for her to practise her driving. It's the only way she'll get to know the car and how it feels to drive.
Keith went home mid-afternoon and Sophie and I stayed on until the bitter end. By the time the customers had all gone it was 6.30pm but there was still a lot of clearing up to do and by the time we'd given Polly a lift and called into the local shop, it was almost 7.30pm by the time we arrived home.
Keith was busy cooking dinner for us and made me a drink. Bliss! Mikey had been out with some friends and walked through the door with a box of chocolates for us all as, in his own words, he was "such an a*se" in the mornings! Very true!
