When you first have a baby you get, as a new parent, heaps of information and help so you can cope with their early years. Health visitors come and see you and there's endless talk about weaning, bottle v breast, education, etc, etc.
However, when your little bundle of joy turns into a stroppy teenager, where's the help then? Maybe a couple of books, some forums where the tales of what other teenagers get up to is truly alarming, and that's it!
It's a truly challenging age and we now have two of them in the house! The hormones are certainly kicking in at the moment! We had a conversation with Sophie tonight about a possible week's holiday in July when Mikey goes to Army camp. We have tentatively come up with an idea of the three of us going to a villa in Lanzarote for a week and just doing nothing but relaxing by the pool. It's not Mikey's idea of fun and he'll be off pretending to be a soldier anyway, but anyone would have thought we'd suggested a week in hell...
"Weird!" was the reaction to our suggestion as Sophie could not entertain the idea of going away with her parents without her brother or a friend...well, that just gives us an excuse to go away on our own, doesn't it?!
