Tackling the jungle...

Keith and I went to Jones's this morning to get a few bits we needed, and in particular, reading glasses! We somehow managed to leave a pair behind in France so were sharing one pair which led to bickerings! We bought two pairs, as well as bird food, grass seed and some toiletries. Exciting stuff!

We sped home for a late breakfast, and then it was out into the garden to tackle the jungle. I'd put some grass seed down a few weeks ago, and it's sprouted marvellously! We moved the garden seat to a spot next to the conservatory in the hope that our feathered friends won't poo all over it, and generally tidied everything up, leaving the bushes alone in case of nesting birds.

Keith ventured into the gravel garden to discover that the weeds have well and truly taken over despite the plastic lining we put down. We both think we'll need far more time than we had today sorting it all out. We also found that we now have three Cordyline Australis plants in one pot (we call them our "leeks")!

I managed to mow the front verge and dealt with more rampant weeds there as well. It's been a beautiful day today with sunshine, fluffy clouds and blue skies, but it's been very windy indeed. It always is when I have to sweep up leaves and grass cuttings!

I relaxed in the bath after the gardening and managed to squeeze in an episode of Doc Martin before Sophie came home. Keith cooked a delicious curry for dinner and then disappeared upstairs to watch the football, leaving us to indulge in Masterchef and Race Across the World (Canada).

Halfway through the evening, I heard Keith shout and he said he'd see the hedgehog in the garden and heard it munching through the food we'd put out! I wonder if it appreciated the newly mown lawn!
