A little bit of Germany in Oxford!

After our late night, it was great to have a lazy morning, and at midday, we drove to Oxford to visit the Christmas market taking place there. It was very cold again with snow still lying on the roadside verges. The temperature was about 0c, or maybe a bit lower. Brrr!

We took the bus from Pear Tree Park and Ride and made straight for the Christmas market on Broad Street. Both of us were hungry so we treated ourselves to a delicious currywurst and then some hot chips with truffle mayonnaise and parmesan.

It was lovely to wander about and look at all the different stalls. Sophie bought a little felt cat decoration for our Scandi tree, and I bought earrings for Andrea, for the Secret Santa we're doing over dinner on Friday evening.

We also enjoyed a cup of gorgeous Gluhwein and some chocolate marshmallows, so we did alright for grub!

It was bitterly cold, so after popping into an Oxfam shop where I bought some more Christmas cards, we decided to get the bus back. I wanted to go to Waitrose to get some food for a mini hamper I was planning to give to Michael and Abbie so we set off back to Northamptonshire.

We went to the Waitrose branch at Kingsthorpe and bought some lovely food and drink to go in the hamper. We even bought some treats for their cats, Hugo and Trixie!

Back home, we rushed around doing the preparations for dinner, making lunches and sorting things out ready for the next day. We were both a bit weary and I think our late night was catching up with us!
