Pootling about!

After a reasonable lie-in this morning it was lovely to have cheese on toasted sourdough bread for breakfast and enjoy a slow start to the day.

Keith and I took Sophie's car to the Tesco garage and put some petrol in for her. We've been using it a lot lately! Back home we sorted out some unwanted stuff to sell on eBay - I had a vintage cutlery set that has been languishing in the cupboard for ages, and that we never use, so we've put it up for sale along with Sophie's Nikon camera. Her iPhone now takes brilliant pictures so the poor camera is no longer needed! Let's hope it finds a good home!

Sophie took lots of photos of the stuff we no longer wanted, and for lunch, we sat and enjoyed the sausage rolls we bought yesterday at Farndon Fields. Today has been overcast and grey with no hint of blue sky or sunshine at all.

Mike called us at about 4pm to ask us to collect him from Abbie's so we drove over. It seemed like he had been gone for ages! He'd bought a new pair of heavy-duty boots for work as the ones he has now let water in and make the skin on his feet peel! Yuk!

Dinner tonight was "Pierrot chicken" - we were trying to re-create a dish we enjoyed in France at a lovely outdoor restaurant. They cooked a half-chicken on top of vegetables such as carrots, onions, garlic, swede and parsnip. We also chopped up some potatoes and let the whole dish bake in the oven and then served it with peas and stuffing. It was delicious!

So, the weekend is over and it's back to work tomorrow. We have completed some chores over the last couple of days and my Dad's car is now empty of boxes, so I'm glad about that!
