Muggy Sunday

We awoke to a warm and sultry day with a low covering of cloud. Where had the blues skies gone?

I spent the morning cutting the grass and tidying up the back garden and the sun did try and poke its face out from time to time. It was also quite hot! Keith cut back some overhanging branches and we noticed that we have several little apples on our tree! Let's hope we'll have enough to make an apple pie or crumble!

Sophie was meeting friends at lunchtime in Starbucks, so she drove us into town as we needed to get dinner for tomorrow. We dropped her off and went to Lidl as they stock Keith's favourite beer and bought some barbecue meats in there - chicken skewers, pork steaks and sausages as well as new potatoes and salad. The weather forecast for tomorrow is rain but it looks clear at about 6pm so we're keeping fingers crossed!

We also popped into B&Q but none of the tiles in there inspired us so we bought the Sunday newspapers and went back to wait for Sophie. By now it was really muggy and humid and quite unpleasant.

Sophie and I dropped Keith off at home and we carried on to Beckworth where we enjoyed a scone and a glass of wine. There was no queue for once! Afterwards I looked at the plants and wanted to buy some geraniums, but there weren't any I liked so we bought some food and drove to the Co-op in Moulton as we'd forgotten to buy breadcrumbs for dinner tonight! They didn't have any so we came up with the idea of buying breadsticks and whizzing them in our little food processor!

We had time to relax before embarking on dinner. We'd chosen the Hairy Bikers' Chicken Parmagiana and Sophie did a lot of prep before I joined her in the kitchen to butterfly the breasts. For once, we didn't have enough tinned tomatoes but we added some puree and all was fine. Mike was off out somewhere and didn't join us but the meal was delicious and we served the chicken with spaghetti.

I can't quite believe that another weekend is over and the working week beckons!
